We will be holding a free online seminar, inviting people who are actively using UD fonts in the educational field.
Based on the theme of "Aiming for high-quality education that leaves no one behind," which is also stated in the SDGs, we will hear about the cutting edge of "learning," including English education from elementary school to university, and Japanese language education for international students.

Microsoft has been including UD fonts in its bundled fonts since the Fall Creators Update in 2018, and will talk about their thoughts on ICT education through examples of how they are using UD font accessibility features.

The role of "UD Digital Textbook" in second language education

We will introduce the features of the UD Digital Textbook Font Western Series, which is easy to learn even for children learning the alphabet for the first time, useful tips for learning to read and write, and the free English learning materials that Iijima has created based on his idea of learning in line with children's developmental stages.

Panel discussion held: Mr. Iijima and Mr. Iwasaki, along with the developers of the UD digital textbook font, will talk about the relationship between fonts and second language learning.

Utilizing Universal Design Fonts as an Initiative to Introduce ICT to Universities

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic increase in online classes. Nagasaki University has introduced UD fonts as one way to reduce the visual burden on students. In this article, we will introduce the process that led to the introduction of UD fonts at Nagasaki University, as well as the support measures (proposed) for faculty members that will be necessary to widely deploy them across the university in the future.
