MORISAWA BIZ+] User Report| "Communicative" leaflets|Tadahiro Yanagi

Headline: Body text:

The Font Switch Project holds seminars and training sessions on information design that goes from "communicating" to "being understood."
This time, we will be focusing on presentation materials and sharing the voices of people who have learned how to use UD fonts and the know-how to do so.

Yanagi Clinic Medical Corporation, Tadahiro Yanagi

How I discovered MORISAWA BIZ+

Yanagi-san is the director of Yanagi Clinic (Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture) and a pediatrician. At the clinic, he frequently provides information about health checkups and vaccinations, but he felt that he had a challenge in how to communicate this information clearly and accurately. That's when he came across Morisawa's fonts and seminars, and his challenges were gradually resolved!Yanagiattended the courseClick here for the summary and report of the online seminar

The path to a flyer that "communicates": Layering different colored letters creates easy-to-read outline text

I attended a seminar and school taught by Keiichiro Takahashi and Tomoyuki Sakuma.

The two of them taught me a variety of things. The first thing that surprised me was how cool it was to be able to create "outlined text." Outlined text is a design in which the text is outlined in a different color, and until then I had been using the standard function that comes with PowerPoint. This somehow didn't look very neat.

They taught me in a hands-on session, and from that day on I was able to create outline letters that wouldn't get crushed.

There are surprisingly many things that can be solved by changing the weight or using condensed fonts.

"If only this title could fit on one line." I often find myself thinking this when creating slides or flyers, but using condensed typefaces can solve this problem to a large extent. Condensed typefaces are fonts that are designed to be narrower in width than regular fonts while still being legible and readable, and they often allow you to neatly condense text into spaces that previously would not have been able to fit.
It was a great learning experience to learn that there are actually many things that can be achieved with font variations.

Also, by being able to put into words and firmly recognize my vague feeling that "something was different," I think I also became aware of the mindset of a communicator. As a "communicator" of information, rather than a "receiver," I need to intentionally guide the viewer in the way I want them to feel.

This also applies to medical treatment, and I was reminded that if I don't prepare in advance what I want to say, it won't get through to the patient.

There are a ton of other books on PowerPoint, but I was glad to find a book written by someone whose lectures I actually listened to were worthwhile. I immediately bought Takahashi's book and am studying it whenever I have time.

Encouraged by the early feedback that the site is "easy to read"

Although it has only been a few months since I started putting into practice what I learned, such as using rounded letters and condensed fonts, I am already seeing positive feedback.

As a member of the Nagasaki Pediatric Association, I am in charge of creating flyers for the association, and people who have seen the flyers created using the skills I learned have commented that they are "easier to understand," "beautiful," and "easy to read." Reactions like these are very encouraging, and I'm really glad that I was able to acquire the UD font and attend the seminar.

When I compare this flyer with last year's, I can see that it's quite different. I used to put images or illustrations in the empty spaces, thinking it was good, but now I think that's a bit different.

Thank you for participating in the interview!
Mr. Yanagi regularly redesigns government documents into materials for patients who visit his clinic, aiming to make them easier to understand!
