The 9th Moripass meeting of the 2nd term was held at the end of March. We will report on the day, which was a relaxed atmosphere from start to finish!
Group work to reflect on the past year's activities
The second Moripass Club, which began in May, ended on this day, whether we were sad or sad. The club split into three groups to reflect on the past year's activities.
Using the questionnaires they completed as a reference, each group will summarize their opinions on what they liked about their experience with Moripass Club, what they regret, and what areas for improvement and prospects for the future.
Having completed the monumental task of publishing the magazine and hosting the event, the members were in a relaxed mood from the start of the day. Each member spoke freely, saying things like, "We'd never done an event before, so I was confused and didn't know anything about how to proceed or liaise with guests," "It would have been good if we had a little more knowledge about events in addition to fonts," and "I think it would have been fine to hold the event two or three times so that everyone who wanted to come could attend."
Regarding the free magazine, the students reflected on their own experiences, saying things like, "Even though the production period was long, we ended up cramming everything together at the last minute," and "I think it would have been better to have just one or two people in charge of each article. We didn't make any progress because we didn't know who should have the decision-making power." They shared specific opinions that will be useful for the Moripass Club next term.
Each group presents their opinions, and the advisor gives final feedback.
After the discussion, Naohara's group made the first presentation. They expressed ambitious opinions such as, "I wanted to have more contact with the people who actually create typefaces," and "I wanted to create an original typeface using only the Moripass Club."
Yoshino's group also expressed the opinion that "it would have been better if we had staggered the timing of the event and the publication of the magazine, and published the contents of the event in the magazine, or used the contents of the magazine at the event," and "I think we could have made something better if we had had one person from each department at each school, or if we had gathered members from general universities." There was some regret that members from the same department gathered together to create the magazine at school, which meant they were unable to interact or share information with other members.
Lastly, there was Tomokiyo's group. They suggested improvements to the production process, saying, "We wanted more meetings with more enforcement, such as more subcommittees," and "If we rotated the leaders of each team every month, I think everyone would be able to work with a sense of responsibility."
Although many areas for improvement were identified, all three groups shared the same opinion that "we were able to interact with people from different schools and various adults," and "we learned a lot, not only about letters and fonts, but also about events and magazines." Because they had gained so much, they also seemed to have the desire to "do more" and some regrets.
Final feedback from the advisor and graduation ceremony!
Following the presentations by the three groups, the advisor gave feedback saying, "I was amazed at how much each of you were able to output about areas for improvement and your outlook over the course of a year."
He also added, "It's a great opportunity to meet you, and I hope that you and your advisor will make this encounter a lifelong one." The other members nodded with smiles.
Finally, just like the Kansai team, the graduation certificates were presented to the students.
Reflecting on their activities in words will not only benefit the Moripass Club next year, but also their future studies and work. Through today's discussions and presentations, it was clear that the members have grown significantly since a year ago.
How will the members take flight after joining Moripass? And based on this year's activities, what kind of activities will Moripass be involved in next year? Stay tuned!
