Hello! I'm Chikada, a member of the Moripass Club! Today, I'd like to write about how we, the Moripass Club members, are preparing for the "Jiyu Jizai Workshop & Talk Show" that we announced last time, as well as our thoughts and the situation we're in!
Within the committee, the events team is currently planning an event for the "Jiyuu Jizai" event, while the free magazine team is holding meetings to produce "FONT SWITCH MAGAZINE Vol.2," which will be distributed in conjunction with the event!
This year marks the very first Moripass Club event! All the club members are trying hard to make it an enjoyable event for all participants!
Since this event is aimed at students, there are surely many students studying at art universities and vocational schools who are not interested in fonts. However, there are few opportunities to learn about fonts properly or to hear about the font situation from creators active on the front lines, so some people may not have had the opportunity to come into contact with fonts yet.
For those people, I want them to first learn about the joy of writing by hand and that letters are free and full of possibilities! This will help them become familiar with fonts!
With this in mind, we decided to invite Daijiro Ohara as our guest.
He is a leading graphic designer who has produced many distinctive typography works.
Another guest will be the artist Sekigawa Kohei.
Since you've had a conversation with Ohara before, I really wanted to hear more from you! I eagerly asked, and you readily agreed!
All the members of the Moripass Club are delighted that these two distinguished guests will be attending.
I would love to hear a wide range of topics, including the differences between existing fonts and hand-drawn letters, and working with letters!
In the next blog, we will introduce these two people, so be sure to follow the Font Switch Project on social media.
We want to convey to as many students as possible the fun, depth, and importance of fonts that we learned in the Moripass Club. We want this to be an opportunity for them to learn, see, hear, experience, and become interested!
To that end, we are all working hard to prepare! Please come and experience fonts with us at Moripass Club!
