This year, the Moripass Club will be creating a zine to convey the appeal of fonts! This will be a chance to learn the know-how of zine-making directly from a professional. Starting this year, we are accepting participants not only from art and music universities, but also from general university students! At the end of September, we will be holding a presentation to present the zines that the participants have created, giving them the opportunity to share their work with the world.
What is a ZINE?
A booklet created by an individual. There is no set format, and themes vary, including illustration books and photo books.
This is a must-see for students like you!
・People who are interested in fonts and typography
・Those who want to interact with society and companies (Morisawa) through the Moripass Club
・Those who want to connect with others studying at other schools and who share the same interests
・Those who want to create a free paper or zine
・People who want to hear from designers and typeface designers
・People who want to publish works using fonts
Activities and schedule
・We invite professionals from four fields: editing/design, printing, paper, and fonts, and learn about the process of producing printed materials.
Participants will be divided into teams of four, and will plan, research, write, design, submit, and complete the zine (with support).
・Distribute and present the produced ZINE at the completion presentation


*What is ATypI?
The International Typography Association (ATypI) holds its international typography conference in a different city every year, and this year, the 63rd conference will be held in Japan for the first time, called ATypI 2019 Tokyo!
We will ask Moripass members to volunteer to participate, and each participant will receive one ATypI 2019 Tokyo participation ticket (retail price $580)!

This year's Moripass Club will be supported by professionals who are essential to making zines!
①Design and editing field
Cinra.net editors and external designers will introduce the actual process of "making a booklet" and give a lecture on the necessary thinking and steps for creating a zine.

②Printing field
We will teach you about printing in an easy-to-understand way, using zine making as a starting point. You will also be able to participate in a factory tour!

Hokaze Co., Ltd. A printing company celebrating its 40th anniversary, we bring creators' ideas to life with cutting-edge technology that is ahead of the industry. |
3. Paper field
We will be teaching you the fun of choosing paper depending on the atmosphere you want to convey through the process of making a zine. We will also be providing the paper for zine production!

Takeo Co., Ltd. A specialized paper trading company. They stock a wide variety of fine paper, and have showrooms where you can touch paper, including the "Mihoncho Main Store." |
④Character and typesetting
We will provide lectures on what typefaces to use and how to arrange them in a zine. We will also support participating members in realizing what they want to communicate.

Application conditions
・Those who can attend all sessions (please contact us if you have unavoidable circumstances)
・Activities will mainly take place in the Tokyo area, centered around Morisawa Inc.'s Tokyo headquarters.
・Those who can spare time to work on zine production with team members outside of the department
・Those who have a Google account and a social media account (LINE/Twitter/Facebook)
(This will be used for communication and information exchange during activities, so if you do not have one, please create one before applying.)
・Activities will be posted on the FONT SWITCH PROJECT blog and social media.

*All fonts used on the pages of the ZINE will be those included in the MORISAWA PASSPORT Academic Edition.
