Sagamihara City has introduced a UD font plan for public organizations and is promoting information dissemination aimed at realizing the SDGs' philosophy of "a society in which no one is left behind." To help them make more effective use of UD fonts, Morisawa Inc. held a training session for staff members to improve their skills in creating materials that "communicate" and can be used the next day.
What are the contents of the training session and the benefits of introducing UD fonts to an organization? Here
Impressions from staff who participated in the training session

I learned that by paying a little attention to detail, such as arranging text and images properly and using consistent fonts and colors, it becomes easier to convey your thoughts to others. By actually working with my own hands, I was able to understand what I had learned better.has been completed.

I thought the process of pre-training via video → assignment creation → feedback during group training was very efficient.During the group training, the ideas of other staff members and the instructors specifically pointed out areas for improvement, making it a very educational time.I was able to spend the time.

I would like to create documents in the future with an awareness of margins and character weights.I want to experiment with fonts and writing styles that will catch people's attention at first glance..
Contents of the training session
In five steps, we remade a document that was actually created by an employee.
- Watch a lecture video on UD fonts and layout tips
- Prepare "documents for citizens used by each department"
- Analyze documents using a dedicated sheet to determine who you want to deliver what materials to.
- Remake the materials based on the analysis in Step 3
- During the group training, Morisawa provided professional feedback on the remade materials.
Materials remade by staff in "Step 4"

Before the remake, it was difficult to tell that the document was about the "Collaborative Business Proposal System." However, after the remake, the information was reorganized so that it was clear at a glance that the document was about "Preliminary Consultations for the Collaborative Business Proposal System."Just watching the video has a positive effect.
It is important to create materials that are not packed with too much information and that make the reader want to read it at first glance.
During the group training session, where participants received direct feedback from Morisawa, we also explained that by using weights (thickness of letters) according to the priority of information, materials can be made more distinctive.

Changes in staff awareness

In a survey, many of the participating staff members said that the training session was useful and that it had changed their attitude towards document creation! Morisawa is holding training sessions aimed at improving document creation skills for users who have adopted its UD Font Plan for Public Organizations.
Morisawa is participating in the "Sagamihara SDGs Partner" initiative promoted by Sagamihara City.
