Introducing the free paper "RAW.20" by students from Tama Art University

An advertisement for Morisawa was created and published in RAW.20, a free paper produced and published by volunteer students majoring in product design at Tama Art University.

RAW, which has been conveying the appeal of product design from various perspectives, has chosen the theme of "baths" this time.
We spoke to Mr. Osawa, who created the advertising design for this project.

There are times in our daily lives when we use various "things."
We are studying product design, but we wanted to focus not only on the "things" themselves, but also on the "space" in which they are used.

Just as adding a vase to a room can brighten it up, having certain objects in it can completely change the impression of the space.

The idea for this theme came from the question: What kind of things can be provided in a familiar, warm space like a bathroom to add something extra to people's lives?

The advertisement we created this time is composed of text in a font that resembles a shampoo hat, and warm, hand-drawn illustrations by Osawa.

I usually use fonts for assignments, but there are so many different types of fonts, each with its own unique personality and atmosphere. Even if they are the same Mincho font, the information they convey when you put together a page can be completely different, even if the design looks similar.

Even in product design, we start from the concept and think, "What kind of physical shape would be best?" The optimal shape changes slightly depending on the purpose. Fonts are similar in that they require individuality to suit the person and the place where they are used.

The font chosen for the catchphrase this time is "Shuei Maru Gothic".
He felt that the typeface had a gentle, conversational feel, was easy to read, and had a softness to it.
I think it's a font that perfectly matches the atmosphere of the illustration!

This issue of RAW will make you want to take a bath after reading it.
