9/30 Turn on the sensitivity of fonts! An event will be held to celebrate the release of the free magazine "FONT SWITCH MAGAZINE vol.3" with the theme "Turn on the sensitivity of fonts!" Guest talk will be by Yutaka Omizo
FONT SWITCH PROJECT, which operates under the theme of "Turning on the Sensibility of Fonts," will be holding a talk event for students interested in fonts on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Morisawa Inc.'s Tokyo Head Office (Iidabashi). The guest speaker will be graphic designer Yutaka Omizo.
What is the FONT SWITCH PROJECT?
The FONT SWITCH PROJECT is planned and managed by Morisawa and members of the Moripass Club, a group of current students who love fonts.
We work under the concept of helping fellow students improve their creative activities by using fonts as a friend.
This project, which began in 2016, is now in its third year. This year, volunteer students from both the Kanto and Kansai regions who are interested in fonts gathered together and worked for six months with the goal of producing "FONT SWITCH MAGAZINE," a free paper that would "turn on" their font sensibilities.
As a new initiative, the Kanto team created a booklet with a double-sided cover. The Kanto team used a vertical layout, while the Kansai team used a horizontal layout, each with a different theme.
In addition to a guest talk by graphic designer Omizo Yutaka, who spoke about "the physical sensation of powerful graphics that captivate with text" in a special interview in the Kanto edition, members of Kanto Moripass who were involved in the production of "FONT SWITCH MAGAZINE vol.3" will explain the magazine's theme and the production process for each piece of content.
In addition, we are also planning a social gathering with guests and Moripass Club members.
Entries for the event are accepted until Thursday, September 27, 2018!
Registration will close once the capacity is reached on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you're interested, please check the event information and apply!
