Bunka Fashion CollegeFounded over 100 years ago, the school is a traditional fashion school representing Asia, and is regarded as one of the world's most renowned fashion schools (universities and vocational schools). Many of its graduates are designers active at the forefront of the world.
The vast campus, with 20 floors above ground and one below, is equipped with classrooms as well as numerous specialized facilities, covering everything from planning and design to production and distribution in the fashion industry. It is said that the school trains its students to be immediately ready for the job in facilities that even professionals would be amazed by.
Morisawa fonts have been introduced in the PC rooms on campus.
At first glance, fonts may seem like an unfamiliar element to students majoring in fashion. However, we believe that fonts are an important element that can help students express their individuality and worldview, encourage free expression and convey messages more easily, and also aid in their own branding. Based on this belief, we have created an environment where students can freely use fonts when creating their work.
Student and faculty comments
At Bunka Fashion College, students create a collection of work called a "portfolio" to display their work and concepts. They also have the opportunity to create presentation materials and proposals, so they need to create materials that are easy to read and that communicate information well. To help them effectively utilize the fonts installed in their computer room, they hold an input class every year on "Font Selection and Layout Know-How."

Fashion Advanced Specialist Course: Ms. Fukami
I often read as a hobby, and I realized that I look at a lot of fonts without really realizing it.
A slight difference in font size can completely change the impression, and I've never paid much attention to line spacing in my own work until now, so I think I'll be able to use what I learned this time in the future.
Above all, the best thing about this lecture was learning how deep the world of fonts is.
Fashion Advanced Specialist Course: Ms. Tamura
When I create portfolios or presentation materials, I always wonder how fonts are made. I'm glad that I was able to learn about the long process that goes into creating fonts by attending this lecture.
I learned how to choose fonts and arrange them in a way that makes them easy to read, so I would like to put this knowledge to good use after I start working.

For the generation of teachers, "letters" meant handwritten letters on signs and the like. This was a very necessary lesson for the student generation who will lead the future, as it made them realize how important knowledge of "fonts" is when creating portfolios for classes.
The participants also learned in detail the key points to keep in mind when arranging text on paper, and received extremely valuable information that will be useful for teachers to use when checking students' reports and portfolios.
It seems that fonts were a valuable learning opportunity for both students and teachers.
When I look at the portfolios created by Bunka Fashion College students, I see that each one is very unique and of a high level.
