Kuwasawa Design School
Night School Visual Design Major 2nd Year
Shingo Saito
Q. What kind of creative activities do you do?
A. We often create logotypes in class. I also draw illustrations on my own. I like drawing lines analogically, so I enjoy pursuing both illustrations and logotypes by drawing lines.
Q. The moment when the font's sensitivity was turned on
A. I enrolled in Kuwasawa (after installing Morisawa).
Q. What is your favorite Morisawa font and why?
A. Hiragino Kakugo W0. It's so thin you'll be surprised how thin it is, and there are a wide variety of weights other than W0, so it's easy to match with your design.
Q. What do you think of the teachers at this school?
A. He cares about his students. He not only speaks kind words, but also harsh words. He often points out things that hurt, but I get the impression that he only says things that will help our students' futures.
Q. The moment the switch turns "OFF"
A. The time I spend eating, drinking, and talking with people is when I'm "off." There are often times when I'm in a pinch with assignments, but when I talk to my schoolmates, I feel like I'm actually "off" even when we're talking about assignments.
Q. What would you like to challenge yourself with in the future? What are you interested in?
A. I have started taking editorial classes, so from now on I would like to learn how to typeset and choose fonts that are suitable for design based on the typeset.
