On June 16, 2021, Morisawa Inc. gave a lecture to students aspiring to become teachers at Miyagi University of Education on the importance of fonts in the educational field and how to create layouts that "communicate."
In recent years, there have been many opportunities in the classroom to teach students about the SDGs, so in the lecture, the students worked on assignments using slides that they would use to explain the SDGs to their future students.

I realized that I hadn't paid any attention to fonts in the handouts and slides I had created in other classes. Until now, I had only focused on font size and color to make them easy to read, so I'd like toFonts that are easy for each child to read, including universal design fontsI want to be conscious of that.

In creating the materials,Use highly designed fonts to make it look stylish, and process text and images. In the future, I would like to create content that is easy to understand for everyone, using UD fonts and paying attention to the layout.
I often create PowerPoint presentations during teaching practice and other educational settings, so I would like to actively use the UD Digital Textbook Font when doing so.
Student Work Example 1

Areas for improvement
- The lines of text are too close together and difficult to read
- If you only have a URL, you don't know what it is referring to.

What's improved
- Wider line spacing makes the text easier to read
- The bottom of the content (URLs and images) is now aligned, giving it a cleaner look.
- The URL contains a "source"
Student Work Example 2

Areas for improvement
- The source of the data is more prominent than the graph.
- The numbers are small

What's improved
- The graph emphasizes the numerical values that you want to convey.
- The text size of the data sources has been reduced and moved to a less conspicuous location in the bottom left, making it easier to focus on the content.
- The "low" part is emphasized, making it easier to understand what the creator is trying to convey.
Thank you to all the students who worked on the assignment.
I hope that this will help students aspiring to become teachers understand the importance of consciously choosing the font and layout when creating materials, thinking about the people they are communicating with, and that it will be useful in their future learning situations!
