Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts, Design Department students1The typography magazine that will be produced over the course of a year is "MOZ"is.
This time,4issue(2017year10We would like to introduce the latest issue (published monthly).

The theme of this issue is "TYPOGRAPHY×MUSIC".
What kind of collaboration will take place between the two fields of "music" and "typography," which at first glance seem to have little to do with each other?

When the project first started, they visited Morisawa and gave enthusiastic presentations on their respective plans.

Then, in October 2017, with even more content than in the planning stage, we held events and interviews, and the book was completed, packed with a wealth of information.

Highlights of this issue

・Rapper Shintaro Maesato was invited to the event, and students listened to the lyrics of Maesato's rap and wrote them down on the wall in real time. This was an unprecedented event that could be described as a live battle of voice and words.

Focusing on the works of Bach, known for their graphically structured musical scores, we planned and held a concert in which typographical images were played in sync with the orchestra's performance, allowing people to enjoy the beauty of the combination of sounds.

・We visited the home of poet Shuntaro Tanikawa and interviewed him about the relationship between poetry and music and the process of writing a poem.

Be sure to check out the magazine to see what kind of collaboration "TYPOGRAPHY×MUSIC" achieved in each project!

And what's more, starting with this issue, you can now read the articles as e-books!
If you unfortunately weren't able to get the booklet, be sure to check it out.
